August 18, 2022 _ The Association of the U.S. Army announced today that Joseph Newberry, President and CEO of Redstone Federal Credit Union, has received a national award for selfless service and dedication to the Army and its soldiers.
The John W. Dixon Award for outstanding contributions to national defense will be awarded to Newberry during the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition, Oct. 10–12, in Washington, D.C.
“This year’s national award recipients represent the very best of AUSA,” said retired Gen. Bob Brown, AUSA president and CEO. “Through their dedicated service and commitment, each of them has made a huge difference in the lives of others and in support of our Army and our nation, and I look forward to honoring them at our annual meeting in October.”
Newberry said he is honored to receive the award on behalf of the work Redstone Federal Credit Union has done and continues to do in support of the Armed Forces.
“This is an amazing recognition for Redstone Federal Credit Union,’’ said Newberry. “Knowing that our roots began on Redstone Arsenal, we are proud of our legacy of commitment and service to our military and civilian communities.’’
Since 2004, the Credit Union has been a strong community partner of AUSA’s Redstone-Huntsville Chapter and has supported the large soldier and federal civilian population of the greater Huntsville area, the state of Alabama, and the southeast region of the United States, retired Lt. Gen. Patricia McQuistion, a former vice president of Membership and Meetings for AUSA, wrote in her recommendation letter.
AUSA has benefitted enormously from its relationship with Redstone Federal Credit Union. That relationship helped AUSA expand its membership by more than 110,000 individuals over three years, McQuistion said.
“Importantly, many of these people would likely never have heard of AUSA without Redstone Federal Credit Union’s assistance,” she said.
Previous winners include: James Schenck, PenFed Credit Union; Eileen Drake, Aerojet Rocketdyne; Roger Krone, Leidos; and Dennis Muilenburg, The Boeing Company.
