FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(June 22, 2018) Redstone Federal Credit Union® awarded $65,000 in scholarships to 14 students on Thursday as part of its commitment to higher education and brighter futures.
Students received $4,650, which is paid directly to their college or university. Redstone has awarded more than $465,000 in scholarships since the program’s inception in 1996.
Travion Crutcher, a Huntsville High School graduate, who will be attending Tennessee State University, said the scholarship money will allow him to attend college without getting loans. “This means a lot to me and my family,’’ Crutcher said.
Scholarship recipients were recognized Thursday during an awards dinner.
Charity Stewart, an account manager with Move Digital, was the guest speaker for the event. Move Digital is a woman-owned business dedicated to helping companies stand out in crowded social media markets.
Charity is also a communications arts Lecturer at UAH.
The scholarship committee received applications from students who are pursuing associate or bachelor’s degrees from colleges and universities all over the country and from RFCU’s seven partner schools. Partner schools are educational institutions located near Redstone branch offices.
