(July 23, 2018) Namena Bojang was shopping for her two young siblings Friday at TJ Maxx when the unexpected happened.
She ran into Tammy Reynolds, a member of Redstone Federal Credit Union’s Brightness Crews, who was out looking for ways to brighten lives by buying school supplies and clothing.
For Bojang, it was a true gift. “I am in complete awe,’’ she said after Reynolds bought her items. “I am beyond thankful for this gift. Thank you, Redstone, for helping those in your community.’’
Bojang was one of 266 people who were in the right place at the right time Friday to take advantage of Redstone’s Acts of Brightness. It is the second year that Redstone purchased school supplies and clothing as part of its Acts of Brightness initiative. Throughout 2017, Redstone also bought groceries, paid for utilities bills, cable, lunch, and so much more.
“We are so excited to go out into the community again with another Acts of Brightness. Serving our communities is a part of our mission and Redstone looks for ways to impact lives each and every day, ‘’ said Fred Trusty, Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s also a real treat for our employees who look forward to it each time.’’
Redstone sent out 13 teams of five people each to visit locations in the cities where it has branches, including Scottsboro, Arab, Athens and Hartselle. They visited stores where shoppers would likely be shopping for back-to-school items.
Redstone’s Acts of Brightness will continue over the next few months when the crews will be out again in their florescent yellow logo shirts.
